Spring 2022 Events on Cape Cod You Won’t Want to Miss

Although spring isn’t as busy as summer on Cape Cod, the season has its fair share of events. These events boost local businesses by providing a reason for people to visit earlier in the year.

Spring also offers excellent value for anyone booking a vacation rental to check out the Cape in April and May. Vacation rentals have greater availability in the spring, too, making it easier to find the perfect spot to spend your time.

Here’s a look at some great events on Cape Cod during the spring of 2022.

Easter at Mashpee Commons

The Cape is a great place to spend Easter because various restaurants host special dinners, and there are other events to attend throughout the weekend.

One of the best-known Easter events on Cape Cod is Easter as Mashpee Commons. This festival includes a unique Easter egg hunt featuring local businesses, photos with the Easter Bunny, and a coloring contest your children can enter online.

Easter at Mashpee Commons is a free event on April 16 from 10:00 AM until 6:00 PM.

Eastham Celebrates Earth Day

Friday, April 22, 2022, marks Earth Day, and Eastham, Massachusetts, is hosting a clean-up event between 8:00 AM and noon that allows you to do your part for the environment.

Eastham Celebrates Earth Day invites you to form a team and pick up litter at local spots like Boat Meadow, Campground, Cook’s Brook, First Encounter, Sunken Meadow, Thumpertown, or Great Pond beaches. Wiley Park, Hemenway Landing, Skiff Hill, and Herring Brook Landing are also part of the event.

Volunteers will be on-site to provide buckets and dispose of everything you collect once you’ve finished.

While picking up garbage might not be high on your list of vacation activities, taking an hour or two from your day to do a small part makes a difference.

Brewster in Bloom

Brewster in Bloom is a three-day festival between April 29 and May 1, 2022. This event includes a fine art and craft show at Drummer Boy Park, a concert by the Brewster Band at Brewster Baptist Church, a 5K run through the streets of Brewster, a lawn display contest between local homeowners, and the Brewster in Bloom Town Parade.

Most events throughout the weekend are free, although there is a $35 entry fee to participate in the road race.

If you’re spending time in Brewster at the end of April, you can’t miss this festival, and you’re sure to get some enjoyment from the events taking place.

Cape Cod ArtWeek

The Cape Cod Museum Trail presents Cape Cod ArtWeek, an event running from May 1 to May 8, 2022.

This festival features concerts, exhibits, art shows, and lectures throughout Cape Cod, including at notable venues like the Provincetown Art Association and Museum, the Wellfleet Preservation Hall, the Cultural Center of Cape Cod, the Cape Cod Museum of Art, and the Sandwich Glass Museum.

Many events are free, while others require tickets, so peek at the schedule to determine which parts of Cape Cod ArtWeek you wish to attend.

Sandwich Artisans Fine Art and Craft Show

The Fine Art and Craft Show put on by the Sandwich Artisans starts in the spring and runs into the early fall. It’s a free event at the Sandwich Public Library that’s a great spot to grab some unique souvenirs to remember your time on the Cape.

Art and crafts you’ll find at the fair include jewelry, pottery, glasswork, clothing, wooden items, home accessories, photographs, and fine art from local artists.

Spring fairs in 2022 will occur on May 7, May 28, and June 4, and all run from 10:00 AM until 4:00 PM, giving you plenty of time to explore.

Hyannis Open Streets

One of the more highly-anticipated spring events on Cape Cod is Hyannis Open Streets, a street celebration and party on May 15, 2022.

During this event, Main Street in Hyannis is closed to traffic between noon and 5:00 PM, and residents and visitors are free to walk, dance, cycle, and explore the area without worrying about cars.

There will be bands playing throughout the day, and all businesses on Main Street are open, allowing you to check out everything downtown Hyannis has to offer while enjoying the festive atmosphere.

Other events you’ll find during the festival include face painting, pumpkin carving, a circus, karaoke, soccer games, sailing demos, martial arts demos, and free books.

There’s something for everyone during this event, so you won’t want to miss it if you’re in the Hyannis area.

The Cape Cod Pirate Festival

Have you ever wanted to experience life as a pirate?

If so, Yarmouth has you covered with the second annual Cape Cod Pirate Festival, which runs June 4, 5, 11, and 12 at the Yarmouth Fairgrounds.

The main highlight of this event is the atmosphere, as actors will be on-site in full pirate costumes making the experience as realistic as possible. There will also be three stages for bands, ax and knife throwing stations, vendors selling pirate-themed crafts, shows, games, and a make-shift pub.

Tickets are $12 for adults and $8 for kids, with each ticket permitting you to attend the festival for one day between 10:30 AM and 6:30 PM.
