At over 375 years of age, Sandwich enjoys the reputation of being Cape Cod’s oldest town. Sandwich was named for the seaport of Sandwich, Kent, England by European settlers from Saugus in 1637. Sandwich has a total area of 44.2 square miles. The town is situated in the Upper Cape area and encompasses the Cape Cod Bay entrance to the Cape Cod Canal.

Heritage Museums and Gardens is a public garden and a museum featuring a collection of classic American cars, folk art, a functional 1919 carousel, and a renowned collection of flowers, namely rhododendrons. The Hoxie House is the oldest house on Cape Cod and one of the oldest in the state, built in the mid-1600’s.
