August 2022 Shows at the Melody Tent in Hyannis, Massachusetts

The Cape Cod Melody Tent is an iconic venue that brings world-class musical acts to Hyannis throughout the summer.

As its name suggests, the Melody Tent isn’t a permanent venue. It’s a giant circus tent with space for 2,300 people and a unique set-up, making it perhaps the Cape’s top spot to experience live music.

You’ll be surprised when you see the quality of shows the Melody Tent attracts, but remember to purchase your tickets early because most concerts end up selling out.

Here’s a look at some headliners performing at the Cape Cod Melody Tent in August 2022.

Tesla

The August concert schedule starts with a bang thanks to 80s rock band Tesla and special guests Fastest Land Animal and Bad Marriage. This show takes place on August 2 as part of the band’s Let’s Get Real! Tour and is sure to take concert-goers back to the days of spandex and big hair with their hits “Little Suzi,” “What You Give,” and “Modern Day Cowboy.”

The Melody Tent will be rocking out on August 2 with this show by Tesla. Doors open at 7:00 PM, and the music starts at 8:00.

Five For Fighting

One of the biggest shows of the summer at the Melody Tent promises to be Five For Fighting featuring special guest, The Verve Pipe.

Five For Fighting is best known for two songs: “Superman (It’s Not Easy)” and “100 Years,” both of which have been featured in numerous television shows and movies over the years. Other chart-toppers by the band include “The Riddle,” “World,” “Easy Tonight,” and “Chances.”

The Verve Pipe had a massive hit called “The Freshman” in 1996, and after a brief hiatus between 2001 and 2009, the band has been busy touring and recording for the last decade.

Doors for this show open at 7:00, and the concert kicks off at 8:00 PM on August 3.

ZZ Top

ZZ Top is one of rock and roll’s most iconic bands and has been performing nearly continuously since 1969. Although vocalist-bassist Dusty Hill passed away in 2021, the band will continue its Raw Whisky Tour at the Cape Cod Melody Tent on August 10, 2022.

Hits like “Legs,” “Sharp Dressed Man,” and “Gimme All Your Lovin'” will undoubtedly be performed during this show on the Cape, making it a must-see performance for anyone who grew up in the 1970s.

The doors will open at 7:00 for this show, with the band hitting the stage at 8:00.

Chris Lane and Lainey Wilson

Chris Lane might not be a household name, but he could reach that level if his career trajectory continues. He’s already responsible for writing and performing “Big, Big Plans,” which went platinum, and has two other number one hits: “Fix” and “I Don’t Know About You.”

Now the country singer is touring with up-and-coming star Lainey Wilson, including a performance at the Melody Tent on August 11. Don’t miss this show if you’re a country music lover vacationing on Cape Cod.

Lyle Lovett

August 12 will bring a show by Lyle Lovett and his Large Band to Cape Cod. Lovett is a singer, actor, and composer known for fusing elements of blues, jazz, country, swing, and folk music into his songs.

Lovett’s Large Band shows are a bit different than his acoustic performances, so you’ll want to check it out if you’re on the Cape. Doors open at 6:30 for this show, with Lovett taking the stage at 7:30.

Brothers Osborne

Thursday, August 18, will bring a show by Brothers Osborne and special guest Ashland Craft as part of the duo’s We’re Not For Everyone Tour.

Brothers John and TJ Osborne have won numerous awards over their careers, including Vocal Duo of the Year at the CMA Awards four times.

Songs you might recognize by Brothers Osborne include “Younger Me,” “Stay a Little Longer,” “It Ain’t My Fault,” and “21Summer.”

Doors open at 7:00 for this show, with the music getting started at 8:00.

The Beach Boys

As one of the most iconic American bands of all time, seeing The Beach Boys in person is a bucket list experience. Sure, Brian Wilson and Al Jardine no longer tour with the group, but Mike Love and Bruce Johnston are still there and will make an appearance at the Cape Cod Melody Tent on August 23, 2022.

No matter your age, you’ll enjoy performances of “Surfin’ USA,” “Fun, Fun, Fun,” “I Get Around,” “California Girls,” “Barbara Ann,” “Good Vibrations,” “Wouldn’t It Be Nice,” and “Kokomo,” to name a few.

Get your tickets to this show early because it’s sure to be the hottest ticket in town as we get closer to the date.

Other Performances

In addition to these highly-anticipated concerts, the Cape Cod Melody Tent will host other shows throughout the summer.

First, there’s a Sublime tribute band on August 5, followed by an ABBA tribute on August 13 and a Queen tribute on August 26.

Comedy is also on the menu at the Melody Tent in the form of Joe Gatto on August 14, Bob Marley on August 20, Nate Bargatze on August 27, and Amy Schumer on September 3.

There’s also a Rogers + Hammerstein’s Cinderella performance by the Cohasset Youth Theatre on August 17.

The Cape Cod Melody Tent enjoys a central location on West Main Street in downtown Hyannis, making it easily accessible from many vacation rentals and a wonderful place to spend an evening while in the area.
