Cape Cod is a lovely place to visit in the spring, as flowers bloom, migratory birds return after wintering in the south, and warmer weather makes outdoor activities more viable.
Booking a vacation rental in the early spring allows you to avoid the crowds that typically appear on Memorial Day Weekend and stay in the area through Labor Day while giving you more to do than in the colder months.
Easter Weekend 2023 runs from April 7 to 10 and will feature a variety of events to check out during your visit. Here’s some information on how you can spend your Easter break on Cape Cod.
Easter Brunch Train
The Cape Cod Central Railroad is best known for its Polar Express train ride in the winter, but you can ride the train year-round thanks to its various other events.
April 9, 2023, features the Easter Sunday Brunch Train, a two-and-a-half hour ride that departs in Hyannis and visits the Cape Cod Canal before returning to its departure point. The train has first-class and premium-class seating and a three-course meal to enjoy as you experience the sights and sounds of Cape Cod in the spring.
The Easter Bunny will also be on-board, giving your kids time for a photo during the excursion.
You’ll want to book your tickets for the Easter Sunday Brunch Train early to avoid disappointment. Premium class is $84.99 for those 13+ and $69.99 for young kids, while first class is $64.99 for anyone 13 and older and $49.99 for children.
Grand Brunch at Chatham Bars Inn
Chatham Bars Inn is famous for its holiday meals, and Easter is no different. On Easter Sunday, 2023, the restaurant will host its annual Easter brunch buffet, a large meal with omelet and waffle stations, smoked fish displays, seafood, cheese, prime rib, and various desserts.
The meal has three seatings between 10:30 AM and 3:00 PM and costs $150 for adults and $70 for kids between the ages of five and 12.
One thing for sure is that you won’t leave this brunch hungry because there’s something for everyone, and the food is of the highest quality.
Easter Egg Hunt at Cape Cod Mall
You don’t necessarily have to be on Cape Cod for Easter to participate in the festivities, as there’s an Easter egg hunt the weekend before the holiday at Cape Cod Mall. Simply show up to Macy’s Women’s Court at 10:30 AM on Saturday, April 1, 2023, and your kids can participate in a scavenger-style hunt throughout the entire mall, collecting eggs as they travel.
The hunt will take your kids to various stores inside the mall, and they will surely come away with some treats. The Easter Bunny will be on-site for photo ops, as well.
Meeting House Farm’s Easter Egg Hunt
There’s another Easter egg hunt on April 1 at Meeting House Farm in East Sandwich. This event features pictures with the Easter Bunny, a pony ride for kids ten and under, and the chance to see the farm’s horses, mini ponies, donkeys, piglets, and kittens.
You’ll have to pre-register and buy tickets to attend this event, which runs between noon and 2:00 PM, with admission costing $10 per person. Note that pony rides are an additional $20 per rider.
Easter Sunrise Service in Falmouth
If heading to church is part of your Easter Sunday ritual, you’ll be happy to know you can continue the tradition in the most Cape Cod way possible through the Falmouth Baptist Church. This congregation will meet at Surf Drive Beach at 6:30 AM on April 9 for a service, allowing you to attend church in the most scenic location imaginable.
After the service, you can return to the church at 60 Central Park Court in Falmouth for a full hot breakfast. This event is a great way to celebrate Easter, and you might meet some new Cape Cod friends in the process.
Brass Ensemble Easter Concert
Another option on Easter Weekend is checking out the Brass Ensemble Easter Concert at the Church of the Transfiguration in Orleans. This concert features the music of Giovanni Gabrieli, George Frideric Handel, and Anthony DiLorenzo, to name a few, and is the perfect way to spend a Saturday night on the Cape.
This show starts at 7:30 PM on April 8, and there’s a second performance on April 9 at 3:00 PM. Tickets are $30 for adults, $25 for seniors, and free for students and those under 18.
Spend Easter in Style
Food, music, train rides, and Easter egg hunts are aplenty on Cape Cod during the Easter season, so you shouldn’t have much trouble tracking an event down if you visit in early April. Springtime on the Cape brings a sense of renewal and excitement that summer and all its activity are just around the corner, and Easter is the season’s unofficial start.
Book your Cape Cod vacation rental well before Easter Weekend to ensure you don’t miss out on any festivities.
