Barnstable is the largest town in Cape Cod and encompasses 76 square miles between Nantucket Sound and Cape Cod. It includes the seven villages of Osterville, Hyannis, Cotuit, Centerville, Marstons Mills, Barnstable and West Barnstable. These villages are all distinctive and have much to offer. They all have unique bays, ponds, inlets, harbors, wonderful beaches, walking trails as well as many shops and restaurants.

Osterville
Osterville has a thriving village center, many beautiful estates and some of the cape’s most exclusive Country clubs. It is a lovely community that is off of the beaten path of Route 28 congestion, but still easily accessible to many activities and attractions. The village is very picturesque and the town is surrounded by many beautiful homes. Cotuit has many cultural resources for a small village. The Calhoun Museum of American Art the Cotuit Center for the Arts and the Kettleers Baseball League of Cape Cod.
Hyannis
Hyannis is the towns business and commercial heart. Best known for the Kennedy Legacy it has the new JKF museum as well as the Kennedy compound. The ferry services run to Nantucket as well as Martha’s Vineyard. The new train service runs to Boston. The harbor offers tours of the area as well as pirate trips for the children. The main town is busy and offers something for everyone and if there is something else you need the Cape Cod Mall is there. Centerville is most well known for Craigville Beach, Craigville Retreat Center and Four Seas Ice Cream. Barnstable has the Greek Revival County Courthouse, Sturgis Library and Barnstable Pottery. If you would rather be out on the water a Whale Watch is a good idea.
West Barnstable
West Barnstable is known for another beautiful beach Sandy Neck. The West Barnstable Train Station and Museum is headquarters of the Cape Cod chapter, Nation Railway Historical Society. All along Route 6A are many Antique Shops, Inns and B and B’s. Marstons Mills is the site of a fulling mill (which cleaned wool in the late 1600s and later a grist mill that operated into the early 1900s). Today the rural village produces many of the Cape’s cranberries. Get a bird’s-eye view of the Cape with a vintage biplane ride from the Cape Cod Airfield.
