Orleans is located at the “elbow” of Cape Cod where the peninsula points north. Described as “an ocean lover’s paradise” with fifty-four miles of coastline on the Atlantic Ocean, Nauset Beach offers spectacular sunrises. Of course some prefer the breathtaking sunsets on the bay side with its warmer, calmer waters and miles of flats when the tide is out. The scenic Town Cove and Pleasant Bay are best known for sailing, motor boating and water sports. And the freshwater beaches of Pilgrim Lake, Crystal Lake and Baker’s Pond complete this water wonderland.
Picturesque Rock Harbor has a charter fleet to take you fishing. It is also home to the Community of Jesus and the Church of Transfiguration where tours are given to view the Basilican architecture, tower bells, unique organ, and amazing art work. Orleans has become a commercial hub of the lower cape and home to a multitude of shops, boutiques, food markets, farmer’s market, art galleries, theaters and museums. There is great public parking and access to the Cape Cod Rail Trail bike trail.
Enjoy watching future major league baseball players at Eldredge Park. The Orleans Firebirds (formerly The Cardinals) are a crowd favorite among the Cape Cod Baseball League. Eldredge Park is also host to several popular events including the annual “Pops in the Park”. And for the arts and crafts enthusiast, Orleans has a large amount of outdoor shows.
