North Falmouth is a top choice when booking a vacation rental on Cape Cod because of its highly convenient location.
First, the village is just eight miles from the Bourne Bridge, so you won’t have to drive across the Cape before reaching your vacation home.
The community also has a vibrant dining scene, particularly along the North Falmouth highway that runs north-south through the entire village.
Finally, North Falmouth sits on the shores of Buzzards Bay, providing visitors with beautiful views, natural harbors, and some of the Cape’s most stunning beaches.
New Silver Beach and its surrounding community are perhaps the Upper Cape’s best secret, as the region provides a quiet atmosphere that is sure to make you feel right at home.
Here’s a look at what to expect when booking a vacation rental in New Silver Beach in Falmouth, MA.
Prepare to Walk
Before booking your vacation rental in New Silver Beach, it’s a good idea to learn a bit about the local culture.
Notably, residents walk everywhere, as it’s incredibly rare to see a vehicle unless it’s someone leaving the community for the day.
Yes, people own cars here, but most are stored in garages or driveways. There’s good reason for the lack of vehicles, too, as there are No Parking signs everywhere, and there’s minimal parking available at the beach.
The good news is that New Silver Beach is compact, so walking isn’t a massive chore, and the lack of vehicles makes it far safer to explore with children.
Bringing your bike on your vacation makes a lot of sense when staying in New Silver Beach, too, because you can ride to the water or explore the Shining Sea Bikeway, which has a trailhead directly across from Kinlin Grover’s North Falmouth offices.
There’s a bike rental shop beside the trailhead, as well, if you didn’t bring yours with you.
Visit the Beach
Naturally, when staying in a community called New Silver Beach, you’ll want to spend some time in the sand. The main oceanfront area here isn’t huge, but the lack of parking means it doesn’t attract visitors from up and down the Cape.
As a result, finding a stretch of sand to spread out on isn’t overly challenging.
The main beach sits at the intersection of Moses Road and Ocean View Avenue, but it isn’t the only option.
There’s another beach at the end of Birch Lane that is larger and also incredibly scenic. It has a parking lot reserved for residents and guests staying in the community. You can also walk to this expanse of the beach if your vacation rental is close enough.
The Tea Room
New Silver Beach isn’t exactly known for its dining scene, as you’ll have to head into a more densely populated section of North Falmouth if you’re looking for an abundance of restaurants like Epic Oyster, Bucatinos, Silver Lounge and Red’s Restaurant & Lounge.
However, The Tea Room is a snack shack offering lunch all week long and breakfast on weekends throughout the summer. They also serve dinner from time to time.
There’s also an on-site ice cream shop and a retro arcade that turn it into a bit of a hangout in the summer months and a large patio that makes it the perfect place to head for a meal when spending a day at the beach.
Sports Courts
If staying active throughout your Cape Cod vacation is a priority, you’ll be happy to know that New Silver Beach has some sports courts. These courts aren’t for the general public, but as a guest of the community, you’ll have access to them.
The tennis court is a popular spot for locals in the summer, as it’s in incredible shape and features pickleball lines if that’s more your speed.
You’ll also find two basketball courts, so your kids can shoot some hoops alone or possibly find a game with some local kids.
The sports courts are where many young residents hang out in the summer, as they’ll walk or ride their bikes with their friends before finding some activities to keep them occupied all day long.
Making the Most of Your Vacation
Spending your vacation in New Silver Beach is like stepping back in time. This community feels like it’s straight from the 1960s, as it isn’t commercialized at all and is a safe place for families to let older children roam.
There’s very little traffic in New Silver Beach because parking is so scarce, and booking a vacation rental here allows you to immerse yourself in the community and feel like a resident, if only for a short time.
