Rare opportunity to stay right on Wellfleet Harbor. The "Boathouse" is nestled in the dunes right on the harbor, looking out at the pier. Step from the deck into the sand. History buffs will enjoy reading up on the history of the Nauhaught Bluff area. The site of the "Boathouse" was home to several summer camps including the Jewish summer camp, Camp Mar-Ven and before that, Camp Chequessett--a "Nautical Camp for Knotty Girls". Unit is in the front half of the building. The back half of the building is an artist studio.
This renovated, single-story unit is nicely appointed with comfortable furnishings, beautiful artwork and wonderful reminders of the Boathouse's history including original wood, walls and doors. Enter an open main living space with hardwood floors, vaulted ceiling with exposed beams and ductless split unit air conditioner. This spacious area is part kitchen, living room, dining room and bedroom. A wall of windows looks out at the harbor, framing an ever-changing scene of tides, fishing vessels and sunsets.
There are comfortable sofas and chairs and a flat screen TV with basic cable and streaming capabilities (with your accounts). Enjoy meals at the counter as you look out over the harbor. The kitchen has a refrigerator, sink, two electric hot plates, a microwave, toaster oven, toaster and drip coffeemaker (note: there is no stove/oven).
Tucked to the side are two twin beds. Enjoy moonlit harbor views as you float off to sleep. Movable screens are available for privacy.
A door near the kitchen area leads to the second bedroom with queen bed and ductless split unit air conditioner. The bathroom just off the bedroom has a shower. Enjoy the convenience of an in-unit washer/dryer.
Sit out on the deck and enjoy the magnificent views. A few steps down a sandy path through the dunes takes you to the beach for sunbathing, swimming, beachcombing and kayaking. Walk along the shore to Uncle Tim's Bridge for a stroll into town. Grill up dinner on the gas grill. Enjoy use of two kayaks and one two-person canoe during your stay.
Short drive--about a mile--to Wellfleet Center and harbor for restaurants, galleries, shops, live entertainment, fresh seafood and the weekly Wellfleet Farmers Market. Short drive to Wellfleet's beloved freshwater ponds and ocean beaches, plus the Cape Cod Rail Trail, Mass Audubon's Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary and Cape Cod National Seashore beaches, sites and trails. Twenty-minute drive to Provincetown for even more restaurants, shops, galleries and entertainment.
