Your Guide to Attending Truro Treasures 2024

There are all kinds of annual events on Cape Cod, so there’s something for you to attend at any time of the year. One such festival is Truro Treasures, which got its start in 1992 and has returned annually ever since.

The original Truro Treasures has organized by community members Betty Groom and Boo Houstoun, who wanted to raise money to save the Highland Lighthouse. The event would highlight everything that makes Truro special and give children and adults plenty of activities throughout the weekend.

The 2024 Truro Treasures takes place between September 20 and 22, offering a great way to kick off the fall. Here’s a look at what you can expect if you book a vacation rental in Truro this September.

Opening Night Presentation

The weekend begins with the Opening Night Presentation on Friday, September 20. This event runs from 4:00 until 5:30 PM at the Highland House Museum and will feature a talk by a local historian.

In 2023, Tim Richards did a deep dive into the history of Pamet Harbor, discussing its importance to the region between 1830 and 1860. At that time, Truro was the home of many of the country’s most successful sea captains and fishermen, bringing wealth to the town.

This year’s talk will discuss a similar topic covering Truro’s rich history and will be worth checking out if you’re in the area.

Homestyle Breakfast

You won’t go hungry during Truro Treasures because there are a couple of events that offer food. The first is the homestyle breakfast at Christian Union Church, which starts at 9:00 AM on Saturday, September 21.

This breakfast is always a popular event, so make sure you get there early to avoid the rush.

Artist’s Fair & Flea Market

The Artist’s Fair & Flea Market takes place at Truro Central School on Route 6. It runs from 10:00 AM until 4:00 PM on September 21 and 10:00 AM until 3:00 PM on September 22, so you’ll have a couple of chances to visit.

There will be dozens of local artisans on-site selling homemade crafts and goods, so you can grab a few items to take home as souvenirs. There’s also a food court from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM on both days at the same location, making it easy to buy some lunch.

Rock the Block

Perhaps the most highly-anticipated event of the weekend is Rock the Block, a block party featuring live music, a cornhole tournament, food, beer, a dunk tank, and a bouncy castle for the kids.

There will also be face painting, henna artists, games, a chalk mural, cookie decorating, and countless other events taking place over the course of the evening. It’s a giant party on September 21, so don’t miss out on the action. Keep an eye on the Truro Treasures website for more information on the time and location.

Pamet 5K Run

Another popular event is the annual Pamet 5K Fun Run. This run typically starts at Pamet Harbor and ends at Ballston Beach, passing salt marshes, rivers, and forests before emerging on the Cape Cod National Seashore. It’s an incredibly scenic run, so if you think you’ll be in the mood for a jog, register ahead of time.

Antique & Classic Car Show

The Truro Community Center will cost an Antique & Classic Car Show on September 22 between 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM. This event attracts car lovers from all over the Cape, as locals love showing off their rides, and those without a classic car love seeing them. It’s a fun and laid-back event that lets you see vehicles you wouldn’t otherwise encounter.

Grape Stomp

Finally, there’s the annual Grape Stomp at Truro Vineyards & South Hollow Spirits. The gist is that you can show up at the winery between 2:00 and 6:00 PM on September 22 and stomp on some grapes to assist with the wine-making process.

There’s also live music from the Dirty Water Dance Band, cocktails and wine, the Blackfish food truck, an ice cream truck, and local oysters, so it’ll turn into a bit of a party as the day progresses.

Book in Truro, Massachusetts

Truro is one of the Cape’s quietest towns, as it isn’t necessarily known for its events. However, locals love this community and showing off everything it has to offer, which is what Truro Treasures does.

Reserve your Truro vacation rental to ensure you can stay close to this one-of-a-kind event on the Outer Cape.
